Bricsys acquired by Hexagon

As announced on 23 October, 2018 at the opening session of the 2018 Bricsys Conference, Hexagon has acquired Bricsys. Bricsys will operate in the Hexagon PPM division. Hexagon and Bricsys were previously working together, most notably with last years announcement that Bricsys was a supported platform for CADWorx, one of Hexagon’s applications that also runs on AutoCAD.

From the reaction of the conference attendees this was unexpected, yet exciting news. Erik De Keyser will stay on with Bricsys. He reassured the crowd of this again on Wednesday in his address to conclude the conference.

Rick Allen, Executive Vice President of Hexagon (self-labeled “Bric Allen” during the conference) spoke about the benefits of BricsCAD as a CAD platform over the competition including perpetual licensing, application stability and performance, and the already mature API. Allen said “…we were looking for an alternative platform for CADWorx….we were sitting on top of AutoCAD, and our customers…..wanted choices”.
