At the Opening Session yesterday, Autodesk CEO Carl Bass spoke about Conxtech, a company who started out because they wanted to reinvent the way steel framed buildings were designed and built. They came up with a innovative way of attaching steel beams to columns, that does not require any welding in the field. It’s less expensive to make and build.
Using this system, contractors are able to build up to 10,000 square foot of steel building in a day, using fewer workers.
Another example given was the 10 story tower seen below. It was constructed at Burning Man, in 3 days, with 5 workers.
If you’ve never been to the opening session at AU, it’s a show of AV technology to say the least.
